Please post any ideas or suggestions you have for this board here. Is there anything you would particularly like to see, or not see, included here? Are there any rescues or organizations you would like to include? I'm in the process of compiling a list of rescues, funds and info links for this board. I am familiar with a lot of them, particularly in Western Washington, but input is always welcome. Where Google fails, is in word of mouth and reputation.

Call it "real rescues only?" I would be nice to include other rescues, not just the NW.

Call it "real rescues only?" I would be nice to include other rescues, not just the NW. Well, that would be a great idea and also very large and difficult to manage. Maybe we can start here with the Pacific Northwest and eventually have a national network for all of the real rescues only.

I think the idea of calling it a "real rescue only" forum is kinda cutting out a lot of people. For example: I will be working with SAFE in the future donating 18 stalls to their rescue and "rescuing" 18 horses to add to a program for youth. Because of the nature of the program I can't register as a horse rescue even though I'm rescuing horses. I know where you are going though by cutting out people who aren't rescuing but taking in horses for free to turn a profit. I've seen plenty of those in my day.
Maybe you could create a way to distinguish the difference between rescuers and supporters of rescuers I.E. Foster homes, donators, etc.

I think they were kind of joking about "real rescues only" gaurdianoasis, because the "Rescues Only" forum is...a train wreck to put it politely I'm sure the intent isn't to exclude anyone doing rescue work with horses whether or not they have official rescue status. The idea of distinguishing roles in rescue is kind of a neat idea. I think you can ad text under your avatar so maybe that would be a way for members to ad a bit of information about their roles . I can see it have the potential of becoming very complicated and confusing though since you can write whatever you want (true or not).

I think the idea of calling it a "real rescue only" forum is kinda cutting out a lot of people. It was more of a joke.. wink and I think you misunderstood. This board was suggested because of the "Rescues Only" forum that is currently run by a convicted animal abuser who regularly deletes and alters posts. That's why I was saying it should be the REAL rescues only board. Neither are excluded from only registered 501C's to be involved with rescuing horses. It is also not just NW rescues & people who post. Perhaps there can be a section in Private vs. 501C. Many of us do private rescue. I have privately rescued a few horses over the years. But I have only "sold" them (as I spent a lot of money & years into training- so it was not a profit, but I sold them for more than I paid for them) or given them away for free to someone I felt would be a good home.
