Thank you to everyone that has come forward with donations of feed, supplies, and cash donations for these poor horses. The communtiy has been amazing at assisting with getting these horses the help they need.
The youngest one, a two year old paint filly, is the worst off. She is doing as good as can be expected. Due to her age and condition she likes to lie down, but can’t get back up. She lacks the needed muscles. It took 7 of us this morning to get her up and on her feet. Naturally horses can’t spend too much time down… after a while this can become detrimental to their health.

It would actually be a great help if any of you guys live in the Arlington area, or know horse people in the Arlington area… we need people that would be willing to give a hand in the late evening hours, and early morning hours to help get her on her feet if need be. We are trying to get a phone list going.

We are looking at a rescue coming and getting her this weekend depending on what the vet says about her being able to travel in a trailer that far.

In the mean time we could really use some help. She tends to lay down once every 24 hours. My e-mail is [e-mail] Please let me know if you'd be interested in giving us a hand.

The latest news I've heard on this is that the filly, Whisper has still been having trouble getting up on her own and Laura, her foster mom has decided that she should be moved somewhere where she can have round the clock care and be closer to Dr Hannah her vet. I believe she was moved to Jamie of SAFE's facility. Thats what I gathered from the Sno-King meetup group where Laura posts www.meetup.com/SNO-KING-Saddle-Up-Meetup They were also planning a "pamper a neglected horse" spa day but it was canceled, partially because of the weather and partially because whisper was down I believe, but they may reschedule so check back.

Update on Whisper from Laura from the Sno-King Meetup group:
"Hello Everyone,
I know some (if not all) of you are eager to hear how Whisper is doing. As you read in Janelle's email this morning (canceling the meetup), Whisper had a rough night last night.
Long story short, a very important "door" opened for Miss Whisper, and she is now where she can get the daily medical attention she needs to survive
Dr. Hannah Evergreen offered to facilitate Whisper's rehabilitation, if Whisper could be in Monroe, where Dr Hannah's practice is based. The closest facility is S.A.F.E., which is 5-10 minutes from Dr Hannah. Unfortunately, SAFE was full and had no room to take Whisper.
After a few phone calls (and some bartering) Nicole and I were able to haul Whisper to SAFE (where she is tonight). I am now fostering one of SAFE's horses, in return for Whisper taking the spot at the SAFE facility.
It would have been far better for Whisper to have gone immediately to SAFE (or another equine facility), rather to have come to my place. But she landed here first, and so many lives are richer because of it. I already miss her (heck, I missed her the second I walked away to get in my truck)...but it wasn't "goodbye," it was "see you later."
